Green Maternity Conference
27 January 2025
This event is hosted by the RCOG, the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) and Sustainable Healthcare Coalition (SHC). It will bring together healthcare professionals, policymakers and academics who are passionate about sustainability in obstetrics and gynaecology. It is a unique opportunity to collaborate and explore the collective action needed to create low-carbon, equitable maternity care.
At the event, teams from our Green Maternity Challenge will share their successes, challenges and learnings from their carbon reduction projects. The conference will also feature insights from RCOG President, Ranee Thakar, and other leading experts who will share their vision for a sustainable future in maternity care. These discussions will complement ongoing College work to identify and address the carbon and inequity hotspots in the maternity care pathway, which has included literature reviews and mapping of existing initiatives.
This event is an opportunity chance to gain new practical skills, such as sustainable quality improvement (SusQI) and carbon footprinting, while connecting with like-minded individuals and shaping the direction of maternity care.
